Year-Round Schools - (new)

☆Year-Round Schools★

Year-round school improves students' academic achievement.
I might have forgotten something during the summer because I usually don't study during the summer vacation.
Because students get breaks throughout the school year, they have opportunities to restart their learning(Opposing Viewpoints)
The most popular form of year-round education is the 45-15 plan, where students attend school for 45 days and then get three weeks (15 days) off. The usual holiday breaks are still built into this calendar.
The percentage  increase in year-round school implementations from 1987 – 2003 is 544 %
Support for Year-Round Schools is 49.7 % (Opposing Viewpoints).
According to the National Association for Year-Round Education, more than 2.3 million U.S. public school students are in year-round schools in the school year. The number has steadily grown since the 1986-87 school year, when only about 360,000 students were enrolled in year-round schools. NAYRE also reports that 3,181 public schools now function year round, compared with 408 schools in 1986-87. Some teachers complain that they never have a vacation or breaks off (Opposing Viewpoints). Year round schools would make that work.
This concludes that year round schools are better than traditional schools.

AHW-Cereal issues

Sometimes, I feel like some kids don't eat cereals and snacks because of the characters on the box. I TOTALLY get that for some reason. Like, for example, Lucky Charms. I mean, seriously. To me it looks demented, but to kindergarten kids, it might look friendly...somehow.
Or, Gogurt, the 'slurp 'til it's flat' thing is getting old. And to little kid, it might make them scared. But this is just my opinion.

He really meant to say this:
Hmmm...we should talk to Auntie Mill so we can get my money so I can buy some balloons and streamers. We can also make charm bracelets and some different posters and stuff. It all be really fun but, we only have a week so we have to do something fast. Maybe breakfast n bed also...but, on a Saturday because Sunday would be hard, you know, church. I'll make the eggs, sausage and bacon because I know how to cook, and plus, I don't want Auntie Eri to get mad if you touck the stove. Also, I'm old enough but, you guys can o the toast and drinks an any other things you have in mind. (:

Ice skating?

Today during lunch recess, I ice skated. Well not really. We, Sarah, Vivian, Amelia and I were sliding on ice! The bad thing is that Amelia got hurt. Not injured, hurt. She had to sit out for a while because of that. We still had fun though.

•  As the school day is extended, some programs are eliminated as schedules are juggled.
• However, the extended school day impacts parents and children's work, transportation, and schedules in a negative way.
•  Communication between the schools and parents break down so parents don't know their child's schedule or when he or she will be picked up by the school bus.
